Earl Thomas Winters

Earl Thomas Winters, age 81 of Christiansburg, Virginia died, Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the Salem VA Medical Center. He was born in Blacksburg, Virginia on January 5, 1945, to the late Carl Waitsel, Sr. and Else Idora Hungate Winters. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, William "Dan" Winters, Carl "Waitsel" Winters, Jr., Betty Lee Smith, JoAnne Orange, Jack Winters, Jimmy Winters, Martha "Ruth" Winters, and Merl Winters and grandson-in-law, Robert William Custer.

He is survived by his daughter, Vicki L. Dowdy (Miami); son, David Winters (Kim); sisters and brothers-in-law, Lilly Thomas (Larry) and Shirley Parsons (Jim); brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry Edward Winters (Linda), Roscoe Winters (Joyce), and Glen Winters; grandchildren, Shane Lawson, Joshua "Tanner" Lawson, and Brittany Custer; as well as numerous other family members; and special friend and caregiver Mary Henderson.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive S.W., Blacksburg, Virginia.
