Earlean D. Abston, affectionately known as "Nookie," was born on July 17, 1948, to the late Robert and Anita Cheatum. She departed this life for eternal rest on Saturday, January 17, 2026.

Earlean attended Mobile County Public Schools and later graduated from Cedar Grove Academy. She was a longtime resident of the Trinity Gardens community and was loved by all who knew her. She had a passion for cooking, word search puzzles, spending time with family, and watching football-especially Alabama football.

Earlean was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Anita Cheatum; and her siblings, Isabel Culpepper, Carolyn Jenkins, and Harold Cheatum.

She leaves to cherish her memories three loving sons: Elston (Stella) Walker, Gregory (Lana) Cheatum, and Charlie Abston; grandchildren: Elston Walker Jr., Matthew Walker, Haleigh Cheatum, Danielle Jackson, Moesha Williams, and Charlacea Williams; great-grandchildren: Kamden and Kruz Bassett, Braydon Rodgers, and Tristian Locke. She also leaves three devoted sisters, Mildred Tyson, Verna (Ralph) Coleman, and Debra McGuire; a devoted brother-in-law, Bradley Jenkins; and a goddaughter, Seandra Murphy Dawson. In addition, she is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; special friends Mabel Murphy, Georgianna Landrum, and Gwendolyn Tricksey; along with cousins, relatives, and neighborhood family and friends.
