Earlene Porter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Evergreen Funeral Cremation and Reception - Columbus on Dec. 28, 2025.
Earlene Porter was born on April 30, 1938, in Halls, Tennessee. She peacefully entered eternal rest December 22, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion to family and community.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Callie Pearson and Benjamin Reed; her sisters, Anna (Harold) Medley, Ora Critchlow, and Nora (Clint) Haynes; and her brother, James (Joyce) Reed.

Earlene is survived by her loving sister, Eva Mansfield; her daughter, Stephanie Gant; her son, Toronto Reed; her cherished grandchildren, Larry Gant, Bryant (Johansa) Gant, and La'Traya Gant; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind nephew and niece Carl (Deborah) Medley, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who were blessed to know her.

Earlene retired after 30 years of dedicated service at the Columbus Development Center, where her strong work ethic and caring spirit left a lasting impact. Outside of work, she found joy in cooking meals for those she loved, crocheting with care and patience, and immersing herself in books as an avid reader.

Above all, Earlene's life was devoted to Christ. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and her daily prayer was Psalm 91, which she leaned on for protection, peace, and strength. Her gentle spirit, kindness, and unwavering faith brought joy to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love and light she shared so freely.

"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." - Psalm 116:15
