Earlene Brown Purvis transitioned from labor to reward on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 4:11 pm, surrounded by family and friends.
Earlene was born on April 18, 1953, to the late Jessie Mae Taylor and the Late Robert Brown in Norfolk, VA.
Earlene was educated in the Norfolk Public School system and was a member of the Bethany Gospel group for 10 years. She retired from Magic Carpet after over 20 years of service.
She was predeceased by her husband, Elveron "Red" Purvis; her son, Elveron "Sam" Brown; a brother, Bernard Brown; two sisters, Carolyn Ann Brown Corprew and Ella Deloris Brown Gibson; and her maternal grandmother, Ella L Hunter.
She leaves to cherish her memory two brothers; her twin Earl Brown and Percy L. Taylor, three sisters; Joyce A Williams, Brenda Wallace (Tommy), and Linda Gilmore, a special great niece and caregiver Chantell Freeman (AJ), six grandchildren and eight great-grand children, a host of niece, nephews, cousin and friends.
