Earline Theresa Prather, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025, in Lafayette, Louisiana, at the age of 79. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 12:00 PM at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Fr. John Dugas officiating services.
Earline Theresa Prather was born on Sunday, December 9, 1945, in Eunice, Louisiana and led a life dedicated to service and family. For 50 years, she was self-employed, running a vending service that became a staple in many lives, reflecting her dedication to hard work.
Earline was a person of profound faith, consistently placing God at the center of her life. She was strong in her beliefs and found solace in prayer, particularly through her cherished practice of praying the rosary. Her caring and loving nature endeared her to many, as she had a remarkable ability to make those around her feel valued and supported.
Throughout her life, Earline embraced the joys of family and cherished every moment spent with them. She loved playing with her cat and creating lasting memories during family vacations. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Earline is survived by her son, Steven Prather of Gonzales; her granddaughter, Nona Mayes and husband, Daniel of Plano, Texas; and her siblings, Tony Arabie and wife, Robin of Panama City, Florida; Don Arabie of Pineville; Loretta Horton and husband, Mike of Anacoco; as well as Smokey Arabie and Lula Leger, both of Eunice.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jacque and Zula Mae Arabie; her husband, Harrison Prather; her son, Dennis Wayne Prather; and her sister, Dorothy Arabie.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2025, beginning at 2:30 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM by Deacon Gary Gaudin. Visitation will continue on Monday, July 14, 2025 beginning at 9:00 AM until time of service.
Earline Theresa Prather will be remembered for her unwavering faith and her loving personality. Her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those she leaves behind.
