It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Earnest Eugene Berry, a beloved father, brother, and friend, who departed this life on October 21, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on December 21, 1939, in Winnsboro, Texas, Earnest lived a life filled with dedication to his family, community, and the simple joys that life has to offer.
After high school, Earnest had several careers, retiring as a a security guard in the grocery supply industry, where he made lasting connections and contributed to the safety and well-being of his colleagues and community. His steadfast presence and commitment to his work reflected his strong character and unwavering dedication.
Earnest was also a member of the Franklin County Sheriff's Posse, where his love for rodeo, horseback riding, and fishing shone brightly. He enjoyed sharing these passions with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, imparting to them his love for the outdoors and the values of camaraderie and community.
He is survived by his devoted children: daughter, Carol Favors(Floyd); son, Larry Berry; daughter, Sharyl Matthews and daughter, Tammy Bailey. Additionally, he leaves behind a loving brother, Donny Berry and wife Faye of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and two cherished sisters, Sue Joiner and husband Joe of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Barbara Pritchett and husband Bill of Sulphur Springs, Texas. Earnest was also a proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 24 great-grandchildren, each of whom he adored deeply and inspired with his gentle spirit and wisdom.
Family and friends are invited to honor Earnest's memory at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro, Texas. Visitation will be on October 28, 2025, at 10:00 am. The funeral service will take place at Beaty Funeral Home on the same day at 11:00 am, culminating in a burial at Smyrna Cemetery near Winnsboro.
As we gather to celebrate the life of Earnest Eugene Berry, we reflect on a legacy filled with love, strength, and kindness. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Earnest was preceded in death by parents, Earnest W. Berry and Ruby Cater Berry and by brother, Roger B
