Earnest Eckard Sr., 81, of Churchville died Tuesday morning (Jan. 22, 1991), at King’s Daughters’ Hospital.
He was born May 24, 1909 in Sugar Grove, W.Va, a son of Ananias and Leary Eckard.
He retired from Hevener Brothers Saw Mill after 13 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Julie Griffin of Churchville; four sons, Earnest Jr. of Staunton, Charlie Peyton of Baltimore, Md., and Algen Pat and Elvert Eckard, both of Churchville; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A service was conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Dennis Sites, with burial in Headwaters Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Roy Coiner Jr., Billy Eckard, Marvin Gulley, Donnie and Jimmy Smith and Manley Mitchell.
