Dorothy Louise Rebecca Frank Eckard, 100, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at her residence in Staunton.
She was born on March 16, 1926, in Rockingham County, to the late Joseph Franklin and Florence Rebecca Caroline Lam Frank.
Dorothy was hardworking woman who spent many years serving her community in the elementary school cafeteria.
At home, Dorothy found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved to crochet and enjoyed working puzzles. Dorothy was especially known for her cooking and baking, and her kitchen was where family gathered and memories were made.
Dorothy had a deep appreciation for nature. She found joy in her flowers, and she delighted in feeding and watching the birds that visited her yard.
Above all, Dorothy cherished her family.
She is survived by her sons, Stuart Franklin Eckard and his wife, Karen and Charles Allen Eckard and his wife, Jill; her grandchildren, Joseph Franklin, Lauren Rebecca, and Kayla Beth Eckard, Sara Marie Eckard-Mejia and her husband, Jesse, and Arbra Nicole Butler; her sister, Shirley Marie Frank Hupp; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Stuart Eckard; her brother, Ralph Franklin Frank; her sisters, Clara Evaline Frank Shiflett, Helen Blanche Frank Neff, and Doris Joan Frank Campbell.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro with Reverend Patrick Malphrus officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
