Funeral Arrangements for Eddie "Madear" Andrews Darty, 90 of Athens are scheduled for 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 8th, 2025, at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with Pastor Vincent Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at the North Athens Cemetery under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home. The visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Eddie V. Darty was born on September 10, 1934, in Caney City Texas, formerly St Paul Community to parents Mose Bowman and Leona (McAlister) Bowman. She graduated from St. Paul High school in Malakoff, Texas. She met and married James F. Andrews and to this union eight children were born: Thomas Lee Andrews, Baby Andrews (passed away at birth) Gail Marie Andrews-Crawford (Marshall Crawford deceased husband) Lorraine Perkins, Roy Curtis Andrews, Sylvia Diane Andrews, Steven Dwayne Andrews and Rodney Eric Andrews and Trina Andrews (daughter-in-law). Besides being a housewife, she also worked for a short time for The West Family in Athens and also for Judge Holland. She later worked on the assembly line at Curtis Mathis in Athens.
Eddie and her children were members of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in
Athens, Texas. Later on Eddie met and married Elder S. V. Darty and gained another daughter Elsie Lee Derrick (Otha-deceased husband) Eddie joined Darty's Temple in Malakoff, Texas to worship with her husband and congregation. Eddie loved reading her bible, doing crossword puzzles, fishing with her husband and son Roy and watching her daytime tv shows. Eddie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Mose and Leona Bowman; husband S. V. Darty; five siblings; Matthew Holmes, Eula Mae Brown, Annie Mae Davis, Samuel Bowman and Mozella Young and two children, Baby Andrews and Thomas Lee Andrews.
Survived by her children and grandchildren, Francevia Andrews Sims and James (husband), Brigette Michelle Correa and Juan (husband), Marsha Ann Castillo, Trinity Elaine Crawford, Marshall Crawford III and Tonia (wife), Aundra Smith, Tiffany Beachum and Dwight (husband) Steven Andrews Jr, Jeromi Andrews and Kim (wife), Marquis Dora Black, Shunte Harrison and Korey (husband), Randy Andrews, Keelana Hodges, Ajsia Andrews. Chris Derrick (deceased), Natalie Clark and E'Leesia Aldama
And a host of great grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
