Eddie Graybill was born in Elk City, Oklahoma, on October 19, 1954, to Otha and Reta Graybill as one of six children. He passed away on March 28, 2026, at the age of seventy-one, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, craftsmanship, and deep devotion to family and friends.
Eddie grew up in western Oklahoma where he learned to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. He attended elementary school in Leedey, completed the seventh grade in Weatherford, and proudly graduated from Elk City High School in 1973. While in high school, he attended Vo-Tech in Burns Flat, where he discovered his talent for auto body repair – a skill that reflected his creative spirit.
Eddie accepted Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Leedey, Oklahoma, a commitment that guided him throughout his life. It was during his time working in Weatherford that he met the love of his life, Martha. Their friendship quickly grew into a romance that blossomed as they worked together. Eddie and Martha were married on the veranda of a charming home on the corner of State Street and Keyes in Weatherford on October 7, 1986. Eddie and Martha loved coming home to see Mama, but they built their life together in Weatherford, where they lived side by side until Martha's passing on September 30, 2012.
A true craftsman at heart, Eddie loved creating things with his hands. Whether he was building, repairing, or tinkering, he found joy in the process of making something new. His handmade gifts – carefully crafted and freely given—brought smiles to those he loved. Eddie also had a natural green thumb; his garden flourished under his care, and he found peace in tending to the soil and watching things grow. He relished time outdoors, especially when fishing at the pond or exploring the farm with his nieces and nephews. Many cherished memories were made on those little adventures—driving around Leedey, casting lines, and sharing stories under the Oklahoma sky.
Eddie had a gentle heart for animals and was known for bringing home new pets—sometimes for himself, sometimes for his nieces, nephews, and later, their children. His love for creatures great and small reflected his compassionate and nurturing nature.
Throughout his life, Eddie found purpose and friendship in his work. He was deeply proud of his time at the Weatherford Opportunity Workshop, where he formed lasting relationships and found joy in helping others. However, it was his 25 years at Burcham Elementary School, working in the cafeteria, which truly captured his heart. Eddie took great pride in his work—washing dishes, serving students, and brightening their days with his cheerful spirit. He often bought pencils for the children out of his own pocket, eager to see their smiles and encourage them in small, meaningful ways. His kindness and humor made him a beloved figure among both staff and students.
Eddie truly enjoyed spending time with people. No matter where life's journeys took him, Eddie's heart always led him back to Leedey, a place filled with family, memories, and the comfort of home. Eddie will be remembered for his warm smile, generous heart, and the way he made everyone feel seen and valued. His hands built, his heart gave, and his faith sustained him. Though he will be deeply missed, his love continues to live on in the many lives he touched and the countless memories he created.
Eddie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha Graybill; his parents, Otha and Reta Graybill; his sister, Sheila Barrick; his brother, Allen Graybill; and his nephew, Dwight Graybill.
He is lovingly survived by his sister, LaTricia Harrel and her husband Frank of Leedey, Oklahoma; his brother, George Graybill and his wife Laura of Granbury, Texas; and his sister, Twylia Keck and her husband Rod of Fairview, Oklahoma.
Eddie took tremendous pride in his family and adored his eight nephews and two nieces: Greg McClure and his wife Amy of Alva, Oklahoma; Auda Trotter of El Reno, Oklahoma; Brian Barrick and his wife Amy of Cyril, Oklahoma; Brent Harrel of Elk City, Oklahoma; Christopher Graybill and his wife Sayuri of Los Angeles, California; Kalee Gossen and her husband Mark of Cordell, Oklahoma; Joel Graybill and his wife Aya of Tokyo, Japan; Cody Graybill and his wife Babe of Flower Mound, Texas; Alden Graybill and his wife Corrie of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; and Mason Keck and his wife Lindsey of Fairview, Oklahoma.
He also cherished every moment spent with his eighteen great-nieces and great-nephews: Taelor Valentiner and her husband Taylor; Brieanna Gentry and her husband Candrick; Gracelyn Smith and her husband Elijah; Will McClure; Karla Carter and her husband Thomas; Kala Downing and her husband Abe; Hannah Barrick; Kaden Harrel; Brady Harrel; Momoka Graybill; Kaysa Carpenter; Kya Carpenter; Charlyn Graybill; Owen Graybill; Callum Graybill; Wesley Graybill; Amelia Graybill; and Brecken Keck.
Eddie’s love reached even further to his eleven great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, all of whom brought him great joy. He will also be fondly remembered by many other family members and friends who were touched by his gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering love.
