Eddie Cayanan Javier, 71 of Woodbridge, Virginia, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, in Charleston, South Carolina.
Born on May 17, 1954, in Zambales, Philippines, Eddie was a son of the late Inocencia Javier (Cayanan) and Naziancino Javier.
SKC (Ret.) Javier honorably served his country for 20 years in the United States Navy, entering service in 1975 and retiring in November 1995 at the rank of Chief Petty Officer (E-7) as an Independent Duty Afloat Storekeeper. Throughout his distinguished career, he earned numerous awards, including the Navy Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation with two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal with three Bronze Stars, and the Humanitarian Service Medal. He spent the majority of his military service in the Virginia Beach area, where he developed lifelong friendships and a deep commitment to the Navy community.
Following his military retirement, Eddie continued his career in service to the nation as a Configuration Analyst with Lockheed Martin. His work took him and his family to Hawaii, where his three sons enjoyed much of their childhood before the family eventually settled in Woodbridge, Virginia. Eddie will be remembered for his contagious laughter, pride in everything he did, and love for his family, whose lives he shaped with quiet strength and unwavering support.
Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, Naziancino Javier and Inocencia Javier.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Lourdes Javier; sons, Lawrence Javier, Elmer Javier and Brittany Harley (daughter-in-law), and Eddie R. Javier and Erin Casey (daughter-in-law); grandchildren, Keeson Javier and Kira-Lynn Javier, siblings, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and those who love him.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at McAllister-Smith Funeral Home, 347 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412.
