Mr. Eddie William Sauls, Sr., 79, of Early Branch, entered into eternal rest Saturday, November 15, 2025, at his residence.
Born September 27, 1946, in Hampton County, he was a son of the late JC Sauls, Sr. and Georgeann Davis Sauls. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army from December 25, 1965, until February 25, 1966. He completed Basic Training at Fort Gordon. While in the Army, he served in Honor Company E, 16th Battalion, 2nd Training Brigade. He then entered the Army Reserves for four years and served in Vietnam from 1966-1967. After being honorably discharged from the Army and Army Reserves, he reenlisted into the South Carolina Army National Guard and served from 1974-1977.
Mr. Sauls was a self-employed contractor and subcontracted with many businesses. He was hard-working and strong-willed all of his life. He was attentive to his family, his friends, and his community, always willing to help whomever he could. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Eddie was a faithful member of Pine Level Baptist Church. Most of all, he loved his family and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are: his wife of 57 years, Sherry Williams Sauls; children, Eddie W. Sauls Jr. and his wife Connie of Beaufort, Stephaney Lynn Sauls and her husband Jeffrey of Beaufort, and Mark Sauls of Grays; grandchildren, Eddie W. Sauls, III and his wife Misty of North Carolina, Abby Lynn Sauls of Beaufort, and Kayla Marie Sauls of Grays; great grandchildren, Eddie W. Sauls, IV, Keegan Sauls, Damian Sauls, and Miyah Sauls; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Stephanie Sauls; and his siblings, JC Sauls, Jr., Jeanie Sauls, David “Sonny” Sauls, Jake “Pete” Sauls, James Sauls, and Betty Hilton.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Friday, November 21, 2025, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Sandy Run Cemetery, Sandy Run Road, Hampton.
