I met Captain Ed when I bought a boat and he was my delivery Captain. When we got to Florida I ended up spending a month in the spare room in Stuart as we outfitted the boat and a tremendous storm shut everything down. He and Lu-Ann treated me like family and we became very close friends. When I was married in the Keys he and Lu came down to Marathon to join us. My wife became close to them both as well. We too have shared our love of dogs. Bodhi is a special boy that I got to know after visiting Ed in Stuart three years ago. I was stunned when I didn´t receive a return call a few weeks ago and feared that Ed had crossed the rainbow bridge where I know all of his pets and Lu-Ann are waiting for him. Rest In Peace my friend.

Ed was dear to my family. He was married to my sister LouAnn (together over 30 years), brother-in-law to me, and a favorite uncle to my children, especially John and Hailey.
When Lou passed away in 2017, Ed and I fell into a pattern of frequent phone calls and texts. In 2018 Hailey and Jesse adopted Charlie into their family, Ed made sure to meet him. When John's son Benny was diagnosed with cancer in January of '21, Ed was included in the family text group that kept us all up to date with Benny's hospitalization, diagnosis and start up of chemotherapy. Ed ordered wristbands that some of the family is still wearing in support of BEnny's fight.
He will be missed by all.

My first memory of Ed was meeting him at the Key West Airport at night in the early 1980s. He had flown in with another friend. My late husband and I became great friends of his and his wife LouAnn. LouAnn was actually my best friend until her death in 2017.
He and LouAnn moved to Ramrod Key shortly after that meeting at the airport and we spent many days sailing the waters around the Keys and snorkeling at the reef. We remained friends after they moved to Stuart -I escaped many storms taking shelter in their home.
I was shocked to hear of his passing as I had remained in contact with him through out the years. He had not responded to my last text. Now I know why. He did have the best stories . The silver lining to this is that he had lived his life to the fullest and had experienced so many different cultures and ways of life; he did not die thinking he had not lived!
RIP Ed. You will be missed by many. I am profoundly sad. Love and peace to all Linda Swift

Captain Ed and I worked together for a couple of years in the Bahamas, Florida, and all up the East Coast to Maine. We had some fun and adventurous times, becoming good friends along the way. I will miss him. Sending warm thoughts to his family and all who knew him. Kelsey
