Edgar Lee Leathers

Edgar Lee Leathers, Jr., 92 years old, of Franklin County, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 4, 1934, in Frankfort, KY, to Edgar, Sr., and Jane Cardwell Leathers.

Edgar lived a life filled with love for 67 ½ years with his wife, Louann Buffin Leathers. He was a patient, hard working man that always wore a smile on his face and help for others in his heart and actions. He worked for forty-two years at National Distillers, was a life-long farmer, a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, and a member of First Presbyterian Church as well.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife and four daughters: Leeann Brown, Pam (Steve) Duncan, Becky, and Valerie. He was known as "Poppy" to his grandchildren: Destiny (Jeremy), Jim Ed (Kate), Cody, Jared, Olivia (Chris), and Taylor, along with numerous great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, February 27 at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home. JT Silence will officiate and burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made tin Edgar's honor to Bluegrass Care Navigators (Hospice) or Frankfort's VFW Post 4075. Arrangements are under the direction of LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home.
