Edgar William Thomas Jr.

Edgar William Thomas Jr (Bubby), 76 of Harpers Ferry WV passed away on Friday May 16, 2025 at his home. He was born on November 7, 1948 in Lucketts, VA to the late Edgar Williams Thomas Sr. and Almonia Alice Williams Thomas. He graduated from Douglass High School in Leesburg Va. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army and then the United States Airforce where he served for 4 years. He then went on to work at the Martinsburg Veterans (VA) hospital where he was employed as a chef for over 30 years.
He had a passion for music, played the saxophone and was an amazing flower gardener growing some of the most unusual and beautiful flowers. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren who affectionately called him Poppa T.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Mary Greene Thomas of Harpers Ferry, Son, Donald Greene and wife Shannon of Harpers Herry and Daughter Christoria Greene also of Harpers Ferry. He is also survived by his grandchildren whom he adored. Trevon, Brianna, Kiaira, Micaela, Marcella, Naquan, Kyree and Naeem. In addition, he had five great grandchildren, Kayden, Isaiah, Liliana, Kingston and Zeniah. He is also survived by a sister, Pastor Jacqueline Dorsey and husband Thomas of Charles Town WV and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Jerry Thomas and Charles (Chucky) Thomas, sister Claudia (Teedy) Young and nephew Theodore (Randy) Dorsey.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 6, 2025 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Elder Tonya Armstrong officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
