Edith Barsa Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home on Oct. 6, 2025.
Edith "Edie" Barsa, 82, of Bradenton, Florida, and Newington, Connecticut, beloved wife of Albert, passed away October 3rd after a courageous five-year battle with multiple myeloma, surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 17, 1943, to the late Elizabeth and Bernard Bohme, and sister to the late Mary Ann Damon, Edie brought joy, grace, and love to all who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Albert Barsa, her daughter Janet (Richard) Koch, her son Christopher Barsa, and her cherished grandchildren Lindsay and Cayla Koch.
Edie graduated from Rockville High School and went on to attend Southern Virginia University in Buena Vista, VA. She began her career at Hamilton Standard, where she met Al, the love of her life. The two married in November 1964 and built a beautiful life together. They raised their children, Janet and Chris, in East Hartford, CT, where Edie's love and creativity filled their home. A talented seamstress, she hand-sewed countless outfits for her children in their younger years and later crafted exquisite window treatments for their homes-lasting reminders of her devotion and care.
Following retirement as snowbirds in Florida, Edie enjoyed sunny days at the beach with her family and Tampa Bay Buccaneers football games with her son.
One of Edie's greatest joys in life was spending time with her granddaughters. She was known as their "Oma" who cherished being present as they grew, while guiding and supporting them as they became young adults. Whether through simple moments together or meaningful conversations, Oma's love and encouragement left an indelible mark on their lives, shaping treasured memories they will carry forever.
Throughout her life, Edie embraced every moment with warmth and gratitude. She treasured time with family and friends, loved traveling and discovering new adventures, and was happiest when surrounded by people. Her presence enriched every life she touched, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her most.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a calling hour on Thursday, October 9th, from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm at Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road, in Vernon, with a Prayer Service at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery.
