Edith Maxine Steger Bramwell, age 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 12th, 2025.
Edith was born to A.Y. and Edna Steger on August 19th, 1930 in Norfield, Mississippi. She grew up in Norfield with her older sister Edna Elizabeth Steger who gave her the nickname Tilley. Her sister made sure it went with her wherever she went. Growing up in rural Mississippi during the Great Depression was difficult, especially when her father passed away in 1940. Edith graduated from Bogue Chitto High School in 1948 and later graduated from Co-Lin College in Wesson, Mississippi in 1950. She worked in a photography studio in Brookhaven, Mississippi.
At the age of 24 she met her husband Sgt. Eldon "Joe" Lavern Bramwell, a Marine recruiter. They were married July 11, 1954 in Brookhaven, Mississippi. They were blessed with three beautiful children, Margaret Elizabeth, Joseph Dean, and Robert Allen. They would spend many years travelling for the Marine Corp; Camp LeJune in Jacksonville, North Carolina; Camp Pendelton in Oceanside, California; and Berwyn, Illinois. Throughout Eldon's many assignments and overseas deployments Edith remained steadfast and continued to lovingly care and support their three children. After being transferred to Houston, Texas, Eldon retired from the Marine Corps. They decided to settle in Houston and then ultimately retired in Magnolia, Texas. Edith dedicated her time volunteering at the Magnolia United Methodist Church and enjoyed babysitting her three grandchildren who lived in the Tomball and Klein area. Edith created a warm and loving "home away from home" for her grandchildren, often filling the house with the smell of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and the sounds of laughter.
Edith was known as Tilley to her husband and sister. To her friends she was known as Maxine. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren she was Memaw.
Edith is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Eldon (Joe), her son Bob (Robert), and her sister Elizabeth Mullins.
She is survived by her daughter Maggie (Margaret) and husband Mark Schwartz, granddaughter Michelle and husband Ryan Kingery, great granddaughter Adeline and great grandson Cade; granddaughter Megan Schwartz; son Joe (Joseph) Bramwell and wife Becky (Rebecca), grandson Kevin Bramwell and partner Rachel Parks, great grandson Ryder, great granddaughter Harley and great granddaughter Emery; daughter-in-law Brenda Bramwell, grandson Steven and wife Deziree Bramwell, great granddaughter Samantha, great grandson Benjamin, great granddaughter Charlotte; grandson Jeremy and wife Katie Bramwell, great granddaughter Skylar and great grandson Rydan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was special to all her family, helping to care for her grandchildren, and enjoying all of her great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 10AM Monday, August 18, 2025 in the chapel at Klein Funeral Home in
Tomball, Texas. Family will receive friends from 9AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Klein Memorial Park Cemetery in Pinehurst, Texas.
