Edith K. Buckson, age 90, passed away at her daughter's home on January 28, 2025. Edith was born on June 21, 1934, in
Smyrna, Delaware. One of eight children she was the daughter of the late Harry L. Kinsey, Sr. and Edith Reed Kinsey.
Edith graciously served by her late husband, William C. Buckson's side, farming in the Taylor's Bridge area of Townsend. They were married for 67 years before his passing in 2020. Together they created a beautiful home. Bill used his talents to remodel the home while Edie used her talent for decorating. She was known for her "warm" and "inviting" home where she welcomed family and friends.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She absolutely adored babies and could often be heard saying, "I just want to get my hands on that little one," even as late as a few weeks ago of her great-great grandson, Bo. She not only adored the children of her family; but all children, volunteering as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for the Family Court in Dover, Delaware, advocating for children in special situations. Some of her grandchildren's fondest memories are of "Grandchildren's Day" when she and Bill would create a special day of activity for their grandchildren at their home. Edith was a devout Christian and faithful member of the Smyrna Wesleyan Church where she served in many areas, to include Sunday School secretary, member of the Church Board, and often representing the Smyrna church at their area conference. She was the Lord's servant using her compassion and love of caregiving for many in her extended family.
Some of Edith's hobbies included playing the piano, growing house plants and garden flowers, scrapbooking and puzzles. She loved playing cards and other board games with the grandchildren and friends. She and Bill enjoyed camping with friends and traveling to places like Hawaii and the Holy Lands. And let's not forget her love of vanilla ice cream!
