Edith Coburn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Iles Grandview Park Chapel on Feb. 8, 2024.
Edith Irene Coburn, 86, of Des Moines, IA went home to be with the Lord on February 5th, 2024 at Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines, IA. Edith was born June 16th, 1937 in Floyd, IA to Harold and Ida (Walker) Livingston. She graduated from East High School in 1955. She was united in marriage to Robert Coburn on August 15th, 1970.
Edith loved the Lord tremendously as well as her family. Taking care of her family, cooking family dinners, and being a grandma brought her much joy in life. She loved attending and supporting all of her grandchildren's activities. Edith loved singing; you would often hear her singing I Love You A Bushel and A Peck, For Rent and her favorite gospel songs. Her favorite greeting was "Hi Dear I love you". She would go shopping and not spend any money on herself, but she would give gracefully to the church and to anyone in need. Edith's heart was so full of love and she shared that love with everyone she knew. She also liked camping and going for car rides looking for flags, pointing out dirty vehicles, and reading license plates.
Those left to cherish Edith's memory are her loving husband of 53 years Robert; her sons Chris (Linda) Peterson of Galveston, TX and Mark (Trelva) McCormick of Mesa, AZ; daughters Shirley (Chris) Grandstaff of Pleasant Hill, IA, Roberta (Scott) Halverson of Ankeny, IA, and sister Ruby Wheatly of Ankeny, Iowa. Seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ron Livingston; sister Shirely Frost; and great-granddaughter Kenna Jean Schenck.
A visitation for Edith will be held Saturday February 10, 2024 from 2:30PM until 5:00PM at Iles Grandview Park Chapel, 3211 Hubbell Ave, Des Moines, IA 50317.
Memorials for Edith can be directed to Taylor Hospice House.
