Edith Paige Conklin, 94, formerly of Alexandria Bay, NY, passed away on Friday, August 16th at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, NY.
Edith was born on May 12, 1930, to John “Arthur” and Lila Preston Paige of Alexandria Bay. She spent some time as an assembler for Faichney Manufacturing in Watertown but found her calling in raising a family.
Edith’s first fiancé, Edgar Barr, passed away in 1949 prior to the birth of their daughter. She married Francis Conklin in 1955 with whom she had two more daughters and two sons. They were together until his passing in 1993.
Edith loved country music and will be remembered by her family for sharing a meal at Cracker Barrel and settling in to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy in the evenings. She also found great pride in tracing back her British lineage. She was a caring soul whose presence lit up every room she was in. Edith cherished most the time spent with her continuously growing family. Her warm smile, sense of humor, and caring nature will be greatly missed by all that know her.
She is survived by her daughters, Lila Paige George, Bridgeport, NY, Deborah Nasworthy, Watertown, NY, and Kathy (Dick) Murphy, Watertown, NY; sons, Francis Conklin Jr., Watertown, NY, and Donald Conklin, Watertown, NY; 13 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Arther, George “Wendell”, Alfred, Donald, and Leon Paige, and her sisters Mary Denny and Catherine Beebe.
A private service is being held by the family. She will be laid to rest in Barnes Settlement Cemetery.
