Edith Brown Cope, age 82, of Mount Holly, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 8, 2023. She was born in Boone, NC and was the daughter of the late Vilas and Blanche Brown. She was a faithful member of Sandy Ford Free Will Baptist Church in Mount Holly where she loved and served her Lord. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother who also enjoyed traveling, as well as watching game shows and cooking shows.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Elaine Cope, her daughter in laws: Gina Cope, and Cindy Cope, as well as three sisters and one brother. Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband Pastor Vernon Cope; four sons: Mickey Cope, Randy Cope (Tonya) both of Belmont, Jeff Cope (Kathryn), Kenny Cope (Selena) both of Mount Holl; three daughters: Ann Brooks (David) of Dallas, Sharon Carr and Denise Williams (PJ) both of Mount Holly. Sixteen Grandchildren: Amanda Greene (Dave), Christy Cope (David), Kevin Brooks, Matthew Brooks, Tyler Brooks (Kendall), Denise Gantt (Chris), Andrew Cope (Kate), Jonathon Carr (Haley), Justin Carr, Ethan Cope, Preston Cope, Christopher Williams (Julie), Megan Livingston (Brandon), Audrey Hurst (Patrick), Stephanie Walker (Jeremi), and Chase Gibson (Cassey); seventeen great grandchildren:: Caleb, Kennedy, Hudson, Mollie, Charlotte, Austin, Michael, Alexis, Talon, Havannah, Thomas, Lucy, Mackenzie, Madison, Elijiah, Logan, and Ezekiel.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday December 12, 2023 at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday December 13, 2023 at Sandy Ford Free Will Baptist Church in Mount Holly with her sons Jeffrey and Kenneth Cope officiating. The Cope family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Mikell Jarratt at Gastonia Medical Specialty Clinic, the nurses at Caromont Regional Medical Center, as well as the nurses at CenterWell Home Heatlh.
