GROVEPORT - Edith LaVerne Helsel Hann, age

101, was born on March 25, 1924 and grew up

in Groveport, Ohio. She was the second oldest of

four children, Raymond Helsel, Richard (Edana)

Helsel, and Melvin Helsel who died as an infant.

She graduated from Groveport High School in

1942 and the Grant Hospital School of Nursing in

1945. She served as a Cadet Nurse during World

War II, and worked in many different capacities

as a nurse and continued for 40 years before retiring

in 1985. She is survived by her five children,

Valinda Arnold, Edwin Hann, Diana (Bob)

Jones, Amy (Doug) Martin, and David Hann;

10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1

great-great grandchild; also sisters-in-law, Edana

Helsel, Delores Derr, and Geneva Ranft. Edith

was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin;

sons-in-law, Larry Arnold and Gary McDonald,

and grandson, David McDonald. She volunteered

at the Lutheran Food Pantry for many years until

well into her 80's. Ed and Edith were life-long

members of Zion Lutheran Church in Obetz,

Ohio. Friends may call at the MYERS-WOODYARD

FUNERAL HOME 587 Main Street in

Groveport on Wednesday, October 22nd from

11 am until time of the funeral service at 1 pm.

Pastor Matthew Cox will officiate. Interment will

follow in Obetz Cemetery. Share with the family
