Edith Linnens Obituary

BURLINGTON - Mrs. Edith Newsome Linnens, age 100, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born in Durham County, she was the daughter of the late William Alfred Newsome and the late Callie Mitchell Newsome and was married for over 77 years to Ray Walter Linnens, who survives. Edith worked in textiles for Alamance Hosiery Mill and later Holt Hosiery Mill and was a longtime member of St. Mark's Church.

Mrs. Linnens is survived by her husband of the home; her daughter, Linda Fowler and husband, Ted, of Durham; two grandchildren, Melanie Fowler Toth and John Fowler; two great grandchildren, Samuel Toth and Benjamin Ray Toth; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Emily Guthrie, Jerome Naylor and David Naylor and their families.

Mr. Linnens would also like to extend a special thanks to all of her caregivers, especially Dava Singleton, for the loving and kind care given to her over the last several years.

A private memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, January 15, 2021at St. Mark's Church by Rev. Ben Bishop.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the W.D. Hammer VFW Post 2972, Boonwood-Timbergate Dr., Gibsonville, NC 27249.
