Edith Marsh Obituary

Edith Marsh

1937-2025

St. George, UT-Edith Loraine Thornton Rockwood Marsh of St. George Utah, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her family on September 10, 2025. Edith was born in Lansing, Michigan on August 16, 1937. Edith married Philip Dean Rockwood Jr. of Detroit, Michigan March 23, 1957. They, along with 4 of their 7 children, were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on August 12, 1968. Phil and Edie were married for 20 years before Phil died in an auto accident in March 1977 in San Antonio, Texas. Edie subsequently met and married Grant Elggren Marsh of Denver, Colorado on December 23, 2003.

Edie was a highly favored speaker and teacher for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints' Education Week, Know Your Religion, and BYU Campus Education Week programs. Edie was an accomplished seminary teacher who was beloved by the youth. She was a decades-long teacher of adult Sunday School Gospel Doctrine class in her local congregation and could "preach the word like no other." Edie received a Bachelor Degree in Communications from BYU at age 50. After retiring from her career at Word Perfect Magazine, Edie answered the call to serve a mission in Bangkok, Thailand where she was assigned to teach English to local dignitaries. After her marriage to Grant Marsh, she and Grant had the privilege of serving as Matron and President of the Denver Colorado Temple. Some of the things that made her the most happy were flower gardening, shopping at thrift stores, and having her feet massaged by her grandchildren.

Edie is survived by six of her seven children: Kathi Salter (Glen), Kelli Cline, Linda McHardy (Scott), Chris Rockwood (Shirley), Carter Rockwood (Destiny), and Joel Rockwood (Sarah); as well as by her husband Grant Marsh and his four children: Kenny (Tehmi), Julie Neudorff (Neil), Steve, Wendy Pearson (Dane) and their families. Edie is the proud Granny to 30 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 26, 2025, 1:00 p.m., with a viewing prior from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 1483 Angel Arch Dr, St. George, Utah,
