Edith Ellen (Edington) Marvel, age 94 and a longtime resident of Leesburg, passed away at Mason Healthcare in Warsaw on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 6:35 a.m.
Born in Winona Lake on July 16, 1928 to Harry E and Velma (Babcock) Edington, Edith was a 1946 graduate of Warsaw High School. She was married to Eugene Marvel on February 1, 1947 in Alexandria; the pair shared more than 68 years together before his passing on March 13, 2015.
Many people knew Edith as "Granny." She rarely knew a stranger and was very active in the lives of her children and grandchildren and also in the community. The family spent several years at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Campground. Edith is fondly remembered for her baking and cooking and for her love of animals, especially frogs.
Those who survive with memories to cherish include three daughters: Joyce (Jim) Garman of Clunette, Judy Nichols of Warsaw and Janet Fifer of Warsaw; six grandchildren: Julie Young, Justin Garman, Jason Nichols, Carmen Ferguson, Troy Fifer and Cara See and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Eugene and her parents, she was preceded in passing by two brothers, George and Harry Edington, Jr and two sisters, Maybelle Medlam and Sue Jefferies.
Titus Funeral Home of Warsaw is entrusted with Edith's care. Friends may gather to support the family on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. At 1 o'clock, Chaplain, Bob Jarboe, ret. will officiate Edith's Life Celebration; burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
