Edith Medeiros

Edith (Cordeiro) Medeiros, 85, of Tiverton, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023, at St. Anne's Hospital, in Fall River, surrounded by her family.
She was the loving wife of Joseph Medeiros, Jr. for 66 wonderful years.
Born in Tiverton, she was a daughter of the late Albert Cordeiro and Lillian (Souza) Cordeiro.
Prior to retiring, Edith worked as a seamstress and then in quality control in the local garment industry. She was a member of the Romeo & Juliet Square Dancing Group with her husband and the Red Hat Society with her friends. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir at St. Madeleine Sophie, crocheting, knitting, camping in her motorhome, making jewelry, playing the dulcimer, and, most of all, cooking for and spending time with her family and friends.
She was a resident of Sarasota Florida most of her retired life and recently moved back to Rhode Island to be "home" with her family. She was a generous woman, and as a two-time cancer survivor, she donated to various cancer charities through the years and she showed us all how to truly live.
Along with her husband, she is survived by her son Joseph P. Medeiros (wife Jennifer), of Tiverton; her granddaughter Sarah V. Medeiros; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Norman, Richard, Elizabeth (Betty), and Albert.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, December 9, from the Oliveira Funeral Home - South Main St. Chapel, 2064 South Main St, Fall River, at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM, at St. Christopher Church, 1554 Main Rd, Tiverton. Burial will follow in Pocasset Hill Cemetery, Tiverton. Calling hours will be held Friday evening, from 5 - 8 PM.
