Edith Nash Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilson Mortuary - Salem on Dec. 15, 2025.
Edith Mae (Black) Nash was born June 19, 1931, in Black, Missouri. She was the daughter of Earnest and Hattie (Watson) Black. Her father passed when Edith was young and she was raised by her stepfather, Willie, and her mother in Bunker, Missouri. Edith graduated from the class of 1948 from Bunker High School.

On October 8, 1949, Edith was united in marriage to the love of her life, Richard Dewaine Nash. This union blessed them with four children: Dennis, Randy, Mark, and Jackie. Edith and Dewaine shared nearly sixty-five years creating lasting memories before his passing June 1, 2014.

Edith devoted many years to the school cafeteria as a cook. She loved seeing and serving the students during the school year. Her talent in the kitchen didn't stay at the school, she was an excellent cook for her family, and they loved her homemade rolls, pumpkin and apple pies, and fudge.

Alongside her husband, she enjoyed working on the family farm tending cattle and raking hay while maintaining a home and raising four children. They enjoyed travelling, especially through Tennessee, visiting Maggie Valley and the Blue Ridge Expressway. In her spare time, she often sewed, painted, and listened to Bluegrass music.

Edith had an intense love for her family, always welcoming them with a big hug and beautiful smile. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She truly cherished spending time making memories with them.

Edith was a strong woman of faith. She was currently attending Oak Grove Baptist Church and has many memories at New Harmony Church. Her love for the Lord was evident in the way she lived, the way she treated others, and the way she faced both good and hard times.

Edith entered her Heavenly Home Monday, December 15, 2025, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of ninety-four years. She is survived by her sons: Randy Nash and wife Kathy and Mark Nash and wife Tammy; daughter: Jackie Lunn and husband Keith; daughter-in-law: Brenda Nash; sister: Karen Parker and husband Warren; grandchildren: Greg Nash, Brad Nash, Jessica Parker (Matt), Justin Nash (Missy), Aaron Nash (Emily), Matthew Nash (Erin), Sarah Keller (Joshua), Laura Hensley (Jordan), Katelyn Kutcher (Eric), and Kristin Lunn; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband: Richard Dewaine Nash, son: Dennis Nash, parents: Earnest and Hattie (Watson) Black; stepfather: Willie Wisdom; and siblings: June Wisdom, Rosie Patterson, Judith Bounds, and Fern Highley.

Edith was beautiful inside and out, always smiling, and displaying kindness to everyone she met. She was strong-willed and very independent. She will be remembered for her strength, her devotion to her family, and the powerful way she showed love to others. Edith will forever be missed.

Funeral Services were held December 19, 2025, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Dannie Patterson officiating.
