Lanny Wallis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilson Mortuary - Salem on Mar. 9, 2026.
Lanny Verl Wallis was born on August 16, 1956, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the son of Lawrence and Trucella (Nash) Wallis, affectionally known as Larry and Trudy. Lanny grew up in Jerseyville, Illinois and graduated with the Jerseyville High School Class of 1974. After graduation, he continued his education at Lewis and Clark Community College.

Lanny proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for several years before later continuing his service in the Army National Guard. He carried a deep sense of pride in having served his country faithfully and honorably.

Throughout his life, Lanny was truly a jack of all trades. He worked in many different fields over the years and was known for his willingness to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed.

Lanny was engaged to Vaunda Richardson and was excited about the future they were building together. He deeply enjoyed spending time with her son and granddaughter, and those moments meant a lot to him. Family was important to Lanny. He shared a special bond with his cousins and treasured the time they spent together.

Lanny loved the outdoors, taking country drives, and visiting Relphe Springs with his beloved fur baby, Bolt, who was constant companion. Music was one of Lanny's greatest passions. He especially loved Southern Gospel and Bluegrass music. A gifted and talented musician, he played several instruments and was particularly skilled on the guitar. Music brought him great joy and was a meaningful part of his life.

On September 11, 1966, Lanny was baptized at Healing Waters Temple, a moment of faith that remained important throughout his life.

Lanny passed away on March 6, 2026, in Rolla, Missouri, at the age of sixty-nine years. Those left behind to treasure his memory include fiancé: Vaunda Richardson of Edgar Springs, MO; future stepson: Louis Richardson and fiancé Sara of Bentonville, AR; future granddaughter: Jolie Richardson; sister: Pamela Wallis; nephew: Issac Wallis; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents: Larry and Trudy Wallis.

Lanny will be remembered for his love of family, his appreciation for music, his hardworking spirit, and the many friendships he formed throughout his life. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
