Paul E. Wallis, 75, of
Roodhouse, IL transitioned to his eternal life with Jesus in the early morning hours of Monday, February 16, 2026, with his daughters and a grandson by his side.
Paul was one of the toughest and most stubborn men we ever knew - and he would proudly admit he was always right, no matter the subject. If there was a debate to be had, he stood his ground… usually with a cigarette in hand.
He was the true definition of a jack of all trades. There wasn't much he didn't know. From building houses to rebuilding cars, from sharing deep knowledge of history to offering advice on just about anything, he carried a lifetime of wisdom. His mind was sharp, his hands were skilled, and his work ethic was unmatched.
He had a special love for classic Westerns and could tell you anything about John Wayne. Not to mention his love for hunting. He admired strength, grit, and determination - qualities he lived out every single day.
His stubbornness, strength, and stories will be deeply missed. His legacy will live through the lessons he taught, the things he built, and the family he loved so fiercely.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents Jack Sr and Darlene Wallis, Virgil Wallis (older brother), Dustin Wallis (nephew), Cheyenne Lemerand (granddaughter), and Journee Vineyard (great niece).
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Wallis of Roodhouse. Stepfather, Lloyd Leonard Sr., and family. Paul is survived by his siblings Pamela Wallis (sister-in-law) and Jack Jr (Debbie) Wallis and their families. His two daughters, Terri Wallis and Carrie (Evan) Lemerand. Stepsons Donald (Shanon) Cole and Nathan (Marsha) Cole. Grandchildren Kaycee Jones, Madison (James) Turner, Kayla (Joshua) Bray, Sharee (Drew) Krominga, Kourtney (Tyler) Brewster, Kyle (Jessi) Livengood, Dallas Hernandez, Kory (Iris) Livengood, Sam (Bryanna) Cole, Autumn (Trenton) Goode, Charles Lemerand and Nadia Lemerand. Great-Grandchildren Taya and Hannah Bray, Emric and Jaxx Krominga, Asher and Winslow Brewster, Kolesyn and Baby Girl Livengood, and Evie Goode. He was loved by many; too many to list here.
You may have also known Paul through his 20 years of service to his community with Wallis Ice Service. As a family, we will continue to keep the business running in his honor, carrying forward the work and dedication he poured into it.
A celebration of life will be held, Saturday, February 21st at 12:00pm at Gentle Shepherd Fellowship in Whitehall, IL (649 E. Carlinville St). Lunch will be provided and please honor Paul by wearing comfortable attire, ideally a pocket tee or flannel. The family asks that donations be made to St. Louis Children's Hospital and/or North Greene Athletic Department in lieu of memorials and flowers. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall is assisting the family. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com
Until we meet again, Papa. Breathe easy.
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
- Psalms 23
