Joann Lakin
White Hall - Joann Lakin, age 74 of White Hall passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Evercare of Jerseyville. She was born December 8, 1951 in Pittsfield, the daughter of Joseph and Edith Looper Shive. She married Charles Lakin on May 23, 1970 in Carrollton and he preceded her in death September 8, 2021.
She is survived by two daughters, Pam (Henry) Schmidt and Mandy Smith both of Carrollton, five grandchildren, Nicholas (Laura) Schmidt, Emily Schmidt, Cathy (Eric) Fraley, Lindsey (Grant) Manula and Koal Smith, nine great grandchildren, Myles, Aliya, Lydia, Oliver, Ellie, Hazel, Lucas, Hudson, and Alice, two sisters, Nancy (Tony) Crain of New Berlin, Connie (Jim) Haverfield of Manchester, and two brothers, Jerry (Cindy) Shive of Roodhouse, Steve (Nancy) Shive of Roodhouse. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and an infant brother, Michael Shive.
Joann worked at Bunn-O-Matic in White Hall for more than 40 years retiring in 2018. She was a member of Berdan Baptist Church. She enjoyed mushrooming, taking walks, cooking, hosting family gatherings, sitting on the swing with her dad, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial to follow in Pine Tree Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Berdan Baptist Church. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
