Edith Else Rauh

1937-2025

Edith was known to be kind and loving to all around her. Surrounded by loved ones, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt passed away peacefully at home on July 9, 2025.

Edith was born on March 3, 1937 to Georg and Emma Spörl Lindner in Hof, Germany. Growing up during the war developed strength and resilience in her that followed her through life.

On August 17, 1957 Edith married W. Werner Rauh and dedicated her life to family. She was immensely proud of her children and put family at the center of her life. Her dedication to her children was constant. She always supported them, including learning their school subjects so she could help them succeed. Her love of teaching went on after her own children had finished their education when she became a tutor at the community college.

Over the years Edith opened her home to those in need, offering warmth and comfort to those who needed a place to stay. She also fostered children, giving them not just a roof over their head, but the love and support they needed to grow.

As a child Edith played the accordion. Her love for music was transferred to many of her children and grandchildren. While supporting their practice she took the opportunity to increase her musical abilities and learned to play piano and violin. Performing arts was another of her interests, particularly the opera and she enjoyed introducing the arts to her friends and family. For many years she added her voice to the German Choir Harmony.

From the time she was a little child, Edith loved being in nature. She spent endless hours observing plants and animals and gained great knowledge about the environment. Teaching others and raising awareness about the importance of nature and conservation was a big part of her life.

A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Edith loved God and all of his creations. Her enthusiasm for life and dedication to helping those in need will leave a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Edith is survived by her husband of 68 years, Werner, her children Doris (Rudolf) Hofmann, Frank Rauh, Pia (Randy) Bick, Beate (Paul) Inkley, Carsten (Andrea) Rauh, nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two foster sons Dean and James Snook.

Services will be held at the Taylorsville Cemetery
