Edith Slack Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Southern Utah Mortuary - Cedar City on Jan. 16, 2026.
Edith Laine Webster Slack, age 89, passed away January 14, 2026, in Cedar City, Utah. She was born on November 20, 1936, in Cedar City, Utah to Elroy and Eva Webster, where she grew up and lived on 200 East almost all her life. She married her high school sweetheart, Dell Wright Slack, right after graduating from high school on June 4, 1955, in the St. George Utah Temple. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings including as a member of the Primary presidency, the ward Children's Friend representative for 8 years, a Primary teacher for 16 years, and as the ward librarian for many, many years.

Edith loved spending time on their mountain property. She had a special love for Christmas and was a huge fan of the Hallmark Channel and watched it regularly. She was known for her fabulous homemade bread and her unique crocheted baby booties. And no one left her home without a warm jacket no matter what time of year it was!

She was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother, who lovingly looked after many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren over the years.

Edith is survived by her eternal companion, Dell, and their five children: Brenda Wheelwright (Kerry), Cedar City, Utah; Jerilyn Rowley (Mark), Cedar City, Utah; Delra Alamo (Jeffery), Las Vegas, Nevada; Bobette Horner (Robert), Sparks, Nevada; Kendall Slack (Naomi Hatch), Cedar City, Utah; and 19 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, James Webster, Cedar City, Utah. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Sherral Webster, and her sister, Geraldine Little.

Graveside services will be held at the Cedar City Cemetery, Saturday, January 24th at 1:00 p.m. under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Ethan Bunker and Mission Hospice, Dr. Steve Newman, and Carisa Archuleta and the entire staff at All Seasons Assisted Living for their compassionate care in Edith's final days.
