Edith Lockwood Sloat

Edith Hazel Lockwood Sloat died at the age of 94 on February 19, 2026.

Edith was born on June 11, 1931, to Fred and Irene Miller at her aunt's farm by Hankinson, ND.

She grew up in Robinson, ND along with her brother and sister where her father was the depot agent and her mother was a schoolteacher.

Edith lived in the Fargo area where she worked for many years for Valley Senior Services driving the senior van delivering Meals on Wheels and taking West Fargo senior residents to numerous appointments and activities. She was also the activities director at the Werst Fargo High Riser for 30 years. After Edith's retirement, she continued to volunteer at the High Rise where she had many friends.

Edith spent her retirement years traveling with her husband Orland and being active in the Flame of Faith United Methodist Church in West Fargo.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, brother and sister, and a granddaughter.

She is survived by her children, Leona Dodge (Washougal, WA), Lucy Martinek (Topeka, KS), Marvin Lockwood (Moorhead, MN), Eugene Lockwood (Fargo, ND), and Calvin (Kathy) Lockwood (West Fargo, ND), 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Memorials are preferred to Meals on Wheels.
Service: Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., in West Funeral Home, West Fargo, with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Interment at a Later Date: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
