Later two brothers were born into the family: Dale (Ann) Britton and Gerald (Patsy) Britton. She attended Snake Hollow Rural School and graduated from Kalona High School. As a young girl, Edith developed a love for farming. On January 1st of 1957, she was united in marriage to Allan Stransky. Edith was a member of the Kalona United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women and spent countless hours in the church kitchen helping with meals. After Allan passed, she became part of the adult Sunday school class and always looked forward to the good discussions they had.

Survivors include her son, Terry Stranksy of Wellman, granddaughter Abby (Michael) Harland of Wellman, one brother, Dale (Ann) Britton of Kalona, four nephews, and one niece.
