Marlene Ann Hesseltine, of Iowa City, left this world with the loving embrace of her family on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of Donor's choice.

Marlene was born on May 6, 1934, in Wayland, IA the daughter of Theodore and Adeline (Roach) Tschantz. She graduated Valedictorian of Wayland High School class of 1952 and enjoyed a wonderful childhood with her three brothers. Marlene was united in marriage to Robert Hesseltine on May 24, 1953, in Wayland, IA; he preceded her in death on September 13, 2018. They had six children together and Marlene was most proud of being a mother. She loved to tell people she had twins and her oldest and youngest had the same birthday. Marlene worked full time at the Iowa City School District for 32 years while taking care of a full household.

Marlene is survived by her five children, Laura Warner (Douglas) of Coralville, Rhonda Wacker of Iowa City, Roxanne Caslavka (Jim) of Iowa City, Ted Hesseltine (Sandy) of Iowa City, and Robin Godfrey of North Liberty, IA; son-in-law, Tom Morris of Tulsa, OK; ten grandchildren, Nicole Byrdge, Karl Warner, Nathan Kondora, Jamie Caslavka, Ross Caslavka, Robert Hesseltine, Emily Park, Alex Morris, Jacob Godfrey and Jordan Rock and fourteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Robert; daughter, Julie Morris; and three brothers, Dwain, James and Gale Tschantz.
