Edith Swigert, 85, of Ottertail Lake, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Perham Living.
Edith May Swigert was born on April 19, 1940, in Staten Island, New York the daughter John and Marion (Belvin) Perina. Edie attended a Jack Wryczen Rally where she accepted Christ as her Saviour. She attended Public School District 20, and then the Port Richmond High School graduating in 1957. Edie moved to Minnesota in 1972, where she lived with her mother along with her brother Art in Maine Township, rural Underwood.
Edith married Louis Swigert on September 6, 1977, in the Amor Lutheran Church of rural Battle Lake. They lived in their home by Richville. Edie was employed fifteen years with First National Bank in New York. she also worked for Otter Tail County Hwy Dept, then cooked in supper clubs before becoming a CNA. She worked fifteen years with the Otter Tail Nursing Home. She served her community as a dedicated Sunday School Teacher. Lou passed away on May 24, 2004, and Edie continued to reside in their home. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, crafting, going to the Richville Center and playing whist, and time spent with family.
She is survived by sister-in-law, Noreen Perina of Omaha, Nebraska, and by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Edie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marion Perina; sister and brother-in-law, Joan (Raymond) Ryckman; and by three brothers and two sisters-in-law, John (Beverly), Robert (Dorothy) and Arthur Perina.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, September 2 at 2:00 PM at Basswood Baptist Church in Richville, Minnesota. A private family burial will be at Rindal Cemetery of rural Underwood.
