WOLCOTT - It is with profound sadness that the family of Edmond “Ned” J. Collins, age 84, of Wolcott, shares the news of his peaceful passing on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine (Byrnes) Collins.

Ned was born in Norwich on August 13, 1940, to the late Mary Savage Collins. He proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. Ned dedicated his career as a Property Manager for Colonial Bank and Bank of Boston. He was a respected member and past president of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Monsignor Slocum Division #1 Waterbury, and was also a valued member of the Washington Hill Athletic Club and the American Legion. Ned found joy in golfing with friends, and cherished camping and boating trips with his family. He had a special place in his heart for dogs, always welcoming them into his home as beloved family members.

In addition to his devoted wife, Lorraine of 56 years, Ned leaves behind his brothers-in-law, Michael Byrnes and his wife Carolyn of Waterbury, and Martin Byrnes and his wife Christine of Watertown. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all the team members of the VA Home-Based Healthcare program for their exceptional care and support. Special thanks to Ellen “the nurse” and his personal homecare aides, Joe, Sheri, Lori, and Maureen, for their unwavering support, love, and care over the past few years.

Funeral services for Mr. Collins will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. from Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury, to St. Francis Xavier Church, 625 Baldwin St., Waterbury, to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.
