Edmond Thompson, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at the age of 70 on October 11, 2025, in High Point, North Carolina, due to natural causes. Born on June 30, 1955, in Sumter, South Carolina, Edmond lived a life filled with dedication to his family, his work, and his passions.
Edmond worked tirelessly in the field of maintenance, dedicating forty-three years of service to Wallace H. Campbell, now known as Allen and Rock. His commitment and work ethic left an indelible mark on both his colleagues and the projects he undertook.
Beyond his professional life, Edmond was a man of many interests. He found joy in fishing, repairing cars, and undertaking home renovations. Music filled his soul, and he had a special fondness for his cars, with a particular pride in his cherished 1981 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
Edmond is survived by his loving wife, Hattie Thompson, who stood by him through life's journey. He leaves behind one devoted daughter, Nicole and her husband Brian Dyson; one devoted son, Russell and wife, Chantell English. Edmond's legacy continues through his fourteen grandchildren: Kayesha, Tashawna, Jeremiah, Isiah, Zechariah, Deonte', Micah, Hakeem, Kayrin, Zolliah, Kayla, Nahliah, Russell, Jr., and Zane, as well as his nine great-grandchildren: Azaria, Jade, Elias, Myah, Aries, Alivia, William, Renae, and Remari.
He is also survived by his seven sisters: Juanita McNair, Almenia Scott, Marilyn Thompson, Shirley Nelson, Willie Mae Thompson-James and her husband Tony, Gloria Thompson, and Earnestine McGee and her husband Earl. Edmond's life was enriched by the bonds he shared with his family, and his memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
A celebration of Edmond's life will take place at Noon on Saturday, November 1st, 2025, at Hallelujah Baptist Church, 2511 Guyer Street, High Point, North Carolina, 27265. Pastor George Steele, Jr. will officiate the service, with a repast to follow from one o'clock until three o'clock.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hallelujah Baptist Church, 2511 Guyer Street, High Point, North Carolina, 27265, in honor of Edmond's memory and his enduring spirit.
