Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home & Cremation Services - ElizabethtownLinda “Diann” Autry Thompson, 73, of Elizabethtown went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 19, 2025, while at Lower Cape Fear Lifecare in Whiteville. She was the daughter of the late Fletcher Autry and Pearl Pervine Autry.
A devoted Christian woman with a love for Jesus, her family and others. Diann prayed daily and shared scripture on her Facebook page. She believed there was always someone that needed prayer and kept a running list of people and things to pray about. She enjoyed attending her home church while her health allowed and at other times watched preaching from the comfort of home. She enjoyed a challenge which was displayed in her love of crossword puzzles, word searches, and gameshows such as Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud. Diann’s favorite time of the year was Christmas, the thrill of watching the children and grandchildren open gifts always made her heart happy. She will forever be remembered for her genuine love of others, her generosity, and her steadfastness in her faith.
Diann was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Tiffany Diann Meares, and siblings Dewitt Autry, Delma Lee Moore, and Viola Wiggins. Left to cherish her memory are husband Tommy Thompson, son Dwayne Thompson, grandson Jordan Meares as well as two more grandchildren, great grandchildren Adelea Meares, Diana Meares, and one on the way (Levi Blake Meares), sisters Sara White, Mary Jane Howell, and Melba Atkins, brother Bob Autry, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 1:00 until 1:45pm a Celebration of her life will follow at 2 pm at New Center Baptist Church in Bladenboro with the Reverend Kevin Kinlaw and Pastor Bryan Hickman officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Old Field Cemetery in Bladenboro.
