Edmund J. Murphy

Edmund J. Murphy, age 85, a longtime Tewksbury resident, formerly of Somerville, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at the Life Care Center in Billerica, following an extended illness.
He was the beloved husband of Karen L. (Baker) Murphy, who passed away on February 20, 2021.
Born in Cambridge on May 29, 1939, he was the son of the late Dennis Murphy and the late Margaret (Lohones) Murphy.
Ed was raised in Somerville and attended Somerville schools.
Prior to his retirement, he was a member of Teamsters Local # 25 and worked as a warehouse loader for numerous shipping companies including A.B.F. Freight and the Hyde Shoe Company.
Ed is the father of Donna Hartsgrove and her husband Fred, of Billerica, the late Eddie Murphy, the late Karen Murphy, Mark S. Murphy and his wife Maria, of Medford and Maureen l. Marsden and her husband Billy, of Tewksbury. He was the brother of Margaret Egan and her late husband Edward, of Somerville, Marlene Cuthbertson and her late husband Lee, of Sanbornton, NH, Donald Murphy and his wife Donna, of Groveland, Brien Murphy and Kathie O'Leary, of Somerville, and the late Dennis F. Murphy and his surviving wife Carol, of Pelham, NH. He leaves eight grandchildren, Robert, Jonathan, Katrina, Cara, Michael, Christian, Caden, Kyle: two great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, immediately followed by prayers to be offered at the funeral home and a procession to Cambridge Cemetery for the interment of his ashes.
