John P. Scibilia, of Mashpee MA, passed away at Lowell General Hospital on Friday June 13, 2025. He was 87 years old.
John was born in Watertown MA on April 30, 1938. He was the son of the late Peter and Mary (Lopez) Scibilia and loving brother to Natalie (Scibilia) Perry and husband Russ and Peter Scibilia and wife Winnie. He grew up close to extended family, including his beloved late Uncle Arthur and Aunt Nellie Lopez, and enjoyed many family Sunday dinners with them.
His regular phone chats will be dearly missed, as well as visiting at family gatherings, where his dry-wit humor always brought smiles.
After studying at Northeastern, he was employed as a mechanical engineer at Polaroid Corporation for many years and then at Haemonetics until his retirement.
John enjoyed many sports and always had the answers to Trivial Pursuit Sports Category questions. He liked to golf and enjoyed billiards but loved tennis best, playing in tournaments and watching on television. He enjoyed Cape Cod, cycling on the canal or visiting all the small towns for lunch at his favorite spots. He also enjoyed many trips over the years to Disney World Resort and Florida to visit friends and family.
He is survived by his wife Ellen (Bolton): his seven children (shared by their late mother Carol Wellman) Stephen Scibilia, Diane Burnett and husband Richard, Laurie Bonaventura and husband Fernando, Jack Scibilia and wife Joan, Scott Scibilia and wife Christine, Lisa Cummings and husband Charles and Jeanne Wehbi and husband Fayez: nine grandchildren Zoe, David, Victoria, Scott, Chelsey, Jessica, Charles, Josef and Isabella: and seven great-grandchildren Jacob, Lucas, Benjamin, Edison, Madison, Callum and Liam.
He also leaves behind sisters-in-law Catherine Irving of Acton and Mary Brady of Concord, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by a prayer service will be held at Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, in Tewksbury, on September 10, 2025. Services will conclude with burial of his ashes at St Mary Cemetery, 90 River Road, Tewksbury.
