Albert J. Scibilia
May 10, 1969 - April 23, 2025
Our hearts are broken as we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Albert (Al) John Scibilia, 55, on April 23, 2025.
Al was born on May 10, 1969, in Hagerstown, MD. He was the son of the late John and Mary Louise (Bushey) Scibilia. Al was the devoted husband of Jane Scibilia, his beloved wife of 32 years.
He is also survived by his treasured children: Grayden John Scibilia (Sydney), Gianna Marie Scibilia, and his grandson, Colsen John Scibilia.
Al is additionally survived by his mother-in-law, numerous siblings (both by birth and through marriage), and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Al was a Christian man whose relationship with God was central to his life. He loved the Lord and worshiped faithfully with Lifehouse Church every Sunday morning.
He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1987, and in 1991 earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Frostburg State University. Al initially worked in retail management and sales. After caring for his dying father, he was inspired to return to school and become a registered nurse.
Al graduated from Hagerstown Community College and was pinned in 2013. He began his nursing career at Coffman Nursing Home, where he built meaningful relationships with his elderly patients. Most recently, Al worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Martinsburg, WV, where he was honored to care for veterans. He was known by patients and colleagues alike as a kind, caring, and compassionate RN. His love of nursing inspired his daughter, Gianna, to pursue a career in healthcare.
Al's greatest joy in life was his family. He was a loving, kind, and generous husband and father. His great sense of humor filled their home with laughter and joy-he was truly a shining light. In times of need, Al was always ready to help.
A gifted cook, he loved preparing meals with his children and passing down cherished family recipes. He was also deeply involved in their lives-serving as a school volunteer, assistant Boy Scout leader, Girl Scout cookie dad, volunteer boat captain, and the very best at making perfect ballet buns.
Al had a lifelong passion for fishing. He learned the sport from his grandfather, father, and brother, and later passed that love on to his own children. He was especially proud to watch Grayden compete on the bass fishing team at Bethel University.
Despite a demanding work schedule, Al always found time to help others-whether lending a hand to a friend or shoveling snow for his neighbors..
In accordance with Al's wishes, the family will hold a private memorial service. They kindly ask for privacy as they mourn this profound loss and deeply appreciate your thoughts, prayers, and understanding during this difficult time.

To Al's Family Who Mourn His Loss,

I only met Al the day before he passed away. He was doing some yard work for my neighbor, and I approached him to ask him about helping with some yardwork. We talked for about a half-hour. I knew from the moment that I met him that I was in the presence of a deeply spiritual and wonderfully good human being. I feel honored to have met him, if only once for a short while, and was so saddened to hear of his passing. The world needs more people like Al, and I do believe that he lives on through his family, friends, and everyone who knew him.

It was such a terrible shock to hear the news of your unfortunate and sudden passing. As a nurse at Coffman Nursing Home you demonstrated compassion and skill to our residents.
I remember hearing on Monday morning how you assisted one of our residents go fishing during the previous weekend. Coffman does not have a pond or creek but you created a large pot, stocked it and on our front porch the resident had a great time catching fish. Who says you cannot connect your vocation with your passion. Al did!
Appreciation for all your nursing care at Coffman Nursing Home from your former (retired) administrator.
