Edna May Crane Brown, born on March 3, 1940, in Transylvania County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, in the serene surroundings of Pisgah Forest, North Carolina, at the age of 85. Her life was a testament to unwavering faith, boundless love, and cherished family bonds.
A woman of Christian faith, Edna was the heart and soul of her family. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband of 60 years, Ernest Brown, and a nurturing mother to her daughter, Karen Johnson (Steven) and son, James Brown, both of Brevard. Her legacy of love extends through her grandchildren, Trevis Johnson, Forrest Johnson, Hunter Johnson, and Jayden Brown, as well as her great-grandchildren, Kooper Johnson, Asher Johnson, and Addi Johnson.
Edna's gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She found joy in being a doting nanny, and her home was always a haven of warmth and kindness. Her strength of character and compassionate nature inspired those around her, teaching them the true meaning of love and devotion.
Surrounded by the beauty of her hometown, Edna shared her journey with her sisters, Hazel Burgess (Newland), Francis Green (Shirl), and Nancy Wilson (Larry), all of Brevard; her brothers, Robert Crane (Nancy), Donlee Crane (Vera), and James Crane, all of Brevard; and her numerous nieces and nephews carry forward her spirit of generosity and affection.
Preceded in death by her parents, Hayden Homer Crane and Grace Matilda Crane, as well as her siblings, Betty Crane, Ruby Brown, Gaynell Holland, Harold Crane, and Homer Crane, Edna now joins them in eternal peace.
Though she has departed from this world, Edna's memory remains a guiding light for her loved ones. Her life was a beautiful example of grace, love, and faith; a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
