CIARAVINO, Edna, F., "Edie" August 22, 2024, Age 88. Beloved wife of the late Anthony (1970). Loving mother of Joe (Sue) Ciaravino, Jim (April) Ciaravino, and the late John Ciaravino (1979). Proud grandmother of Justine Ciaravino, Cassandra Ciaravino, and Angela (Tanisha Johnson) Ciaravino. Dear sister of JoAnn (the late George) Foley, and John (Carol) Padot. Predeceased by her brothers Leo, Donald, and Rich Padot.
Known to all as "Edie" she married Anthony Dominic Ciaravino on July 7, 1956. Together they had three sons; Joseph Anthony (1959), John Matthew (1962) and James Vincent (1964).
Edie was a devoted homemaker and loving mother until the untimely death of her beloved husband Tony in 1970. After completing Sawyer School of Business, Edie entered the business world, first as a legal secretary for Berry, Moorman, King, Lott and Cook, P.C. in downtown Detroit. She subsequently joined Chrysler automotive corporation in 1971, and Chrysler defense in 1976. Chrysler defense later became General Dynamics Land Systems. Edie became a successful logistics analyst for the Abrams Tank System.
Edie progressed rapidly in her career with General Dynamics, frequently advising the US government program office on the logistics support functions and requirements for the Abrams tank. She was admired for her strong work ethic, cooperative spirit and warm personality. While at General Dynamics she also attended Macomb Community College at night earning her associate's degree in management. Edie retired from General Dynamics Land Systems in March 1996. Her retirement years were spent enjoying her family, traveling and doing things with her church.
She attended and was active in Peace Lutheran church in Warren, where her boys went to school, Hope Lutheran church, also in Warren, Redemption Lutheran church of Sterling Heights, and later Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton Township. Despite the adversities in her life, Edie was always known for her warmth, compassion and friendly demeanor.
A loving wife, devoted mother and nurturing grandmother, Edie was our rock and our solace. She was a good friend to so many during her lifetime. She will be sorely missed!
