Edna Doering, age 95, died peacefully at her residence. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church in Madison. Visitation will be one hour preceding the service. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
Edna Coralyn Sample was born on November 28, 1930 at Spring Valley, MN to Harriet and Wilbur Sample.
Edna grew up in Spring Valley, MN moving to Rochester, MN in 1944. After the war ended in 1945, they were forced to move to Madison, SD. Edna graduated from Madison High School in 1948. After graduation she worked at the Parker Auto Company for four years before traveling to Lexington, Mass. for six months. Upon returning to Madison, she got a job at the Madison Community Hospital for two years before obtaining a degree in elementary education with a minor in library science.
She married Kenneth Doering in Madison on June 17, 1957. They moved to Ken's family farm where they farmed and milked cows. They had three children, Kirk (Carolyn), Sandy, and Pam.
She is survived by her son, Kirk (Carolyn) Doering, and her daughter, Pam Friede, both of Madison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Doering (2009); her siblings, Wilbur, Leora, and Bert; her daughter, Sandra Onnen and one grandchild Cory Friede.
