Edna Dupas Ecker, 72, of New Orleans, entered peacefully into eternal rest on October 4th, 2023.
She is survived by her beloved children Michelle Ecker (Donnie Dowling) and Brandon Ecker (Elizabeth). Edna is also survived by her former husband Raymond J. Ecker and her eight cherished grandchildren: Don “Quade”, Brooks, and Banks Dowling, Trinity, Jolee, Maliah, Elliana, and Reed Ecker-all of whom knew her as “Mae-Mae.”
She was preceded in death by her mother Winnifred Broussard Dupas, her father Robert Morgan Dupas Sr., her brother Robert Dupas Jr., her sister Carole Johnson, and her dearest son Jason Robert Ecker.
Edna was born and raised in New Orleans with her loving parents and siblings and, after completing her education at John McDonogh Senior High School, went on to work as a lending expert at Fidelity Bank for much of her adult life, where she made dear lifelong friends. Known by her friends and family as a devoted mother, a hard worker, a sweet soul, and a talented athlete, Edna found time for both work and play, and her children share fond memories of beach trips and family outings to her softball games. In recent years, Edna delighted in spending time with Michelle’s family, with whom she has resided, as well as visiting with and celebrating the accomplishments of all of her children and grandchildren. Full of joy and enthusiasm for life, Edna is beloved by many for her warm and inclusive nature, and all who came to know her knew that they were welcome in her home and in her heart.
The family would like to thank the kind nurses and doctors at East Jefferson General Hospital, as well as the compassionate team at St. Joseph Hospice, who cared for Edna at the end of her life.
The family invites those who loved Edna to celebrate her life, on Saturday October 21st at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home located at 75212 Lee Rd, Covington, LA 70435. The Memorial Service will begin at 12:00 pm, with a visitation to precede the service, starting at 10:30 am.
