Edna Stacy Hamilton, the daughter of Laura Melton Stacy and Preston Stacy, was born January 24, 1938 in Perry County, Kentucky. On March 28, 2026, Edna, at the age of 88, passed from this life to her eternal home leaving a family and community to cherish her memory.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband Carl Hamilton, her siblings: Harriet Melton, Roberta Pollard, Nora Young, Ann Coots, Preston Stacy, Jr, and Corbin Stacy. Her inlaws: Eliza and Harold Heinsen, Ruth and John Robert Hamilton, Alice Hamilton, Katherine and Clifford Hamilton, Joe and Harriet McDaniel, Norman and Mollie Stamper, Mary Ann and Elbert Pace, Mae and John Edwards, and Dan Hamilton.
Edna leaves behind her daughter Anita Hamilton of Wooton, Ky and a beloved niece Mallie Fields of Farler, Ky. Her siblings and inlaws: Vina Eversole of Georgetown, Ky, Dorothy Coots of Chatsworth, Georgia, Zona and Curman Eversole of Front Royal, Virginia, David and Rose Stacy of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Brenda Tanner of Knox, Indiana.
Throughout her life Edna cherished home and family. Whether making quilts, crocheting blankets, cooking delicious meals, or working side by side with her husband on the farm, Edna always put others before herself. In her own quiet way, she taught life lessons to so many. Edna may be gone, but the values she instilled will continue in those she touched.
Services for Edna Hamilton will be held at the Wooton First Baptist Church, Wooton, Kentucky with Visitation occurring on Thursday, April 2 from 5-7pm followed by a church service, led by Pastor Scott Harvey, beginning at 7pm. Funeral services will take place on Friday, April 3 at Wooton First Baptist Church at 1:00 pm with Rod Eversole officiating.
Burial will take place at the Hamilton Family Cemetery in Wooton, Kentucky.
Pallbearers: David Stacy, Benny Hamilton, Lacy Lusk, John Compston, Mark Woolums, and Craig Justin Fields
Honorary Pallbearers: Clifford Hamilton, David Hamilton, Paul McDaniel, James Chig Melton, Clifford Philbeck, James Hamilton
Although flowers are always welcome, donations to Wooton Baptist, in lieu of flowers, are equally appreciated.
The family would like to thank the emergency room workers at Mary Breckinridge Hospital and the intensive care medical staff of Hazard ARH for their compassionate, capable care. Edna would also want us to remember Dr. George Chaney for years spent as her trusted doctor.
