GIBSON CITY - Edna M. Huppert, 90, of Gibson City passed away at 5:22 p.m. Sunday (June 8, 2025) at Goldwater Care, Pontiac.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Monday, June 16, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Gibson City. The rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. and funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Drummer Township Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
Edna was born Aug. 15, 1934, in Downs, a daughter of John and Mabel Hilpert Bode. She met the love of her life and married Roger D. Huppert on Sept. 14, 1954, in Gibson City, and together they built a beautiful life rooted in love and hard work. They recently celebrated 70 wonderful years of marriage. Roger survives in Gibson City.
She is also survived by six sons, Mike (Cathy) Huppert of Arkdale, Wis., Dick (Patti) Huppert of Gibson City, Chris (Susan) Huppert of Oakland, Calif., Tom (Mary) Huppert of Palm Desert, Calif., John (Paula) Huppert of Elliott and Dan (Heather) Huppert of Eagan, Minn. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Matthew Huppert, Bill (Christina) Huppert, Bob (Megan) Huppert, Dr. Laura (Daniel Plotnick) Huppert, Kim Huppert, Eric (Amber) Huppert, Tanya Boucher and Emma Huppert; and seven great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
Edna was preceded in death by her five siblings, Albert Bode, Edith Newman, Henry Bode, Esther Molck and Alvin Bode.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Edna lived a life full of love and faith. She worked at Southside Flower Shop in Gibson City early in her marriage and later became known for her beautiful cake decorating for special occasions. She had a beautiful garden every year and enjoyed square dancing with Roger every chance she had. She was a talented cook who made sure Sunday dinners were special.
Edna and Roger spent over 20 winters in Arizona, enjoying the sunshine and shuffleboard. They loved to travel, having visited Hong Kong, Germany, Panama, the Caribbean, Alaska and Hawaii. She loved playing cards and dominoes, reading cookbooks and sharing meals with loved ones. Her Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her with grace and strength.
