When I started my nursing career as a new, nervous RN Edna was in my orientation class. She was very kind and sweet and helped to calm my nerves. I still remember her. My sympathy to you on her loss.

Edna Mae Kipp (May 7, 1930- January 26, 2026)

Edna Mae Kipp passed away January 26, 2026, of natural causes. A visitation will be held at 1:00 pm with funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 1st at Heritage Funeral Home Sioux Falls, SD. 

Edna was born on May 7, 1930, to Albert and Emma (Lindell) Kipp in Salem, South Dakota. She attended country grade school a short distance from the family farm and graduated from Salem High School in 1948. She entered nursing training at the Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing in Sioux Falls SD graduating in 1951. Additional education included a year at Bethel College in St. Paul MN, Certification in Public Health from the University of Minn and a B. S. from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD.

Her nursing career of 41 years was spent mostly in hospital nursing at hospitals in St. Paul MN, Great Falls MT, and at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls SD. She also worked at Lakeridge Nursing Home in St. Paul and as Public Health Nurse out of Stillwater, MN Public Health Dept. She returned to Sioux Valley in Sioux Falls to work until retiring in 1992. Edna was a member of Central Baptist Church Sioux Falls, and the Alumni Assoc. of SVH School of Nursing. She enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, playing cards with family and friends, and volunteering at the Sioux Empire Medical Museum.

Grateful for sharing her life are her three nephews: Steven (Vicki) Mulder, Wayne (Sandie) Mulder, and Darrell (Randy) Mulder, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Edna was preceded in death by parents, Albert and Emma Kipp and one sister Joan (Larry) Mulder of Sioux Falls, SD.

Memorials may be designated to the Bethel College, or Central Baptist Church of Sioux Falls.
