Edna Neaves Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John Kennedy, FSL on Dec. 9, 2025.
Elkin Mrs. Edna Dillon Neaves, 91, of Elkin, NC, died peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at her home with her family at her side. Mrs. Neaves was born in Elkin on March 6, 1934, to Van and Edna Dillon and often spoke of how her early life was blessed by the love of 3 women, (Edna, Ms Lassiter, and Eva).

Edna attended Elkin City Schools and was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She grew up on West Main Street. After her marriage to Louis Neaves, they lived in the red barn off Terrace Avenue and then on Gwyn Avenue. She later moved with Louis to Summit, NJ and then to Asheville, NC, before returning home to live on West Main Street in Elkin. Edna loved all of these places, made the most of each, and was surrounded by fun and supportive friends along the way.

The family is very grateful for the kindness and joy provided by all of these friends, especially during times of illness.

Mrs. Neaves was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Louis Neaves, her parents, and brothers Henry, Van and Lon Dillon. Surviving are one daughter, Celeste Neaves Griffin and husband Ben of Elkin, NC, two sons, Fred Louis Neaves II and wife Vicky of Weaverville, NC, and Charles Dillon Neaves and wife Louise of State Road, NC, and three grandchildren Jane Griffin Alvarez, Charles Louis Neaves II and Caroline Chapman Neaves.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Elkin Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Arlo Tysinger and Rev. Chip Aldridge. Edna was especially proud of her family's history of involvement in the Presbyterian Church and the family suggests any memorials be made to Elkin Presbyterian Church, 151 Hillcrest Drive, Elkin, NC 28621
